Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (Supervised by Paul Myers)
Monica Pagan
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate, Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, and practitioner of Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) at Intentional Counseling. With over a decade of experience as a middle school Special Education teacher, I bring a unique, well-rounded approach to therapy that blends trauma-informed care, nervous system work, and developmentally-attuned play therapy for clients of all ages.
I specialize in supporting individuals and families navigating neurodivergence, including ADHD and autism, while addressing co-occurring challenges such as anxiety, depression, emotional regulation difficulties, and relational strain. Through play therapy, I help children express emotions, process experiences, and build regulation skills in a safe, engaging space.
A core part of my work focuses on healing parental trauma. I help adults move from feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or triggered by old patterns to feeling grounded, confident, and empowered in their relationships and daily lives.
My therapeutic approach is holistic, compassionate, and individualized. Whether working with children through play therapy or supporting adolescents and adults with evidence-based strategies and trauma therapies like ART, I focus on building coping skills, strengthening communication, and fostering emotional resilience. My background in both special education and mental health allows me to support complex needs across the lifespan and create a space where clients can grow emotionally, mentally, and relationally.

Testimonials
“Monica Pagan, is a beautiful human being. I highly recommend her and intentional counseling. We accomplished our goal with her guidance throughout this journey.”
“Ms Pagan has been great to work with. We've seen lots of progress with our child and seen improvements in their ability to improve how they react to various life situations with thought and care. ”
“Working with Monica has been an absolute pleasure. She has not only helped me find myself, but she has helped me With my trauma. I am living proof that healing exists. She always talked about ART therapy, and I kept refusing only because I thought, this is hoodoo? There is no way I can heal myself with just eye movements… people, Monica is heaven sent. I have healed my childhood unhealthy attachment and no medication, no therapy has ever helped me the way 1 hour with Monica has helped. I will never forget her, and most importantly, I will never stop raving about her ART therapy she introduced to me. I actually ASKED HER to record me talking about her because the world needs to know how amazing this technique is. Aside from how amazing ART is, Monica has great bedside manner, she is so sweet and I love the fact that she helps you connect your own dots to what has happened in your life… I will never stop being her client. Thank you so much, Monica.”
“I’ve been using this service since the beginning of the year. I highly recommend! I absolutely love my therapist and have had so much growth since receiving her help.”

What inspired you to become a therapist?
I became a therapist because I believe every person deserves a space where they feel seen, supported, and capable of becoming who they are meant to be. Over time, I’ve learned how powerful it can be to have someone walk with you through life’s hardest moments. I bring both clinical training and lived experience with difficult chapters, allowing me to meet clients with genuine understanding, steadiness, and compassion.
-

Therapy with me is structured yet flexible, always tailored to your unique history, needs, and goals.

-
What mental health concerns do you most enjoy helping clients work through?
My clinical focus centers on trauma-informed care, emotional regulation, neurodivergence, stress, and anxiety. I’m passionate about helping clients untangle what they’ve been carrying so they can move forward with greater clarity, confidence, and ease.

What do you hope clients take away from their time in therapy with you?
At the heart of my work is a belief in your potential. My goal is that clients leave our time together feeling stronger, more grounded, and more connected to themselves. I aim to help you build practical skills, deepen self-understanding, and cultivate a renewed sense of purpose and possibility.
