Licensed Professional Counselor
Lizelle Fischer
I knew I had a passion for helping others after experiencing a tragedy when I was a teenager. Since then, I have been on a mission to help alleviate pain and suffering in others. I have several years of experience in the field. I have seen many individuals, relationships, and families live a happier, healthier, and more fulfilling life.
My counseling services are structured with the premise that the foundation of a good therapeutic relationship requires that the client feel comfortable and trust the therapist they choose in order to truly benefit from counseling. In turn, the client is able to safely and confidently explore their issues, in which can help them identify their authentic self and to know their purpose in life.

Professional Background
I graduated with a Bachelor in Psychology from the University of North Texas and a Masters in Counseling from Dallas Baptist University. During my graduate years, I trained at a mental health facility and local hospitals as a crisis clinician in a variety of areas helping adults, couples, teens, and families explore and work through habitual patterns or an unexpected crisis.

What inspired you to become a licensed professional counselor?
I became a licensed professional counselor because I saw firsthand what it is like to go through really hard times and need someone to talk to and help me through those areas. I truly believe that those events in my life helped shape who I am today and how I provide counseling services to my clients.
-
How would you describe your approach to counseling?
My approach to counseling is person-centered, while also using the cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) model.
-
How do you measure progress or success in therapy?
A good indicator of progress in therapy is when the client begins to acknowledge and
notice when they are using the tools on their own outside of therapy. -
What’s one thing you wish more people understood about therapy?
I wish more people understood that therapy is about investing in yourself to gain the
tools and resources we don’t always know or have ready. It is nothing to be ashamed of, in fact it takes bravery and strength to have a therapist for yourself who can help provide the tools in achieving your own personal goals. -
How do you tailor your approach for each individual client?
I personally tailor my counseling services to each client by actively listening to the problems presented first, understanding their goals, and noting what has specifically worked for them in past situations.
-
What do you enjoy most about being a therapist?
As a therapist, I really enjoy watching my clients realize they are stronger and more capable than they ever thought. When a client sees their progress or feels hope again, it is incredibly meaningful to me.
-
What are some of your hobbies or interests outside of work?
Outside of being a licensed professional counselor, my hobbies are boxing and strength training. I also enjoy going on short RV camping getaways with my husband and children.
-
What’s a book, quote, or idea that has influenced your perspective as a therapist?
I have always appreciated the psychologist Carl Rogers who believed, “that when I
accept myself just as I am, then I can change.” -
Who would benefit most from working with you?
The client who would benefit most from working with me, would be someone needing a warm, non-judgmental space, but is also ready to collaborate with me on practical
tools, skills training and direction, because sometimes we may feel so overwhelmed we just don’t know where to start. -
What do you hope clients take away from their time in therapy with you?
When I work with my clients I really want them to be able to see their own strength and confidence in their abilities to reach their goals and see success in their progress.
-
What mental health concerns do you most enjoy helping clients work through?
I most enjoy helping clients grow in self-understanding and in practical coping skills. I
enjoy assisting clients through counseling services that focus on generalized anxiety, depressive symptoms, school/work stress and habits of overthinking. -
What types of therapy do you offer (individual, couples, family, trauma-focused, etc.)?
As a licensed professional counselor, I offer evidence based tools such as cognitive reframing, grounding, emotion-regulation and communication techniques. I help work through decisions and situations by breaking them down into more manageable steps.
